Batteries, posts, terminals and related parts contain lead, lead compounds and some other chemicals. In order that it may not cause serious health problems, you should definitely wash your hands with plenty of water and soap after you make any work with the battery.

When you work on and around the battery, you should always wear goggles, mask and gloves.

Hydrogen generated by the battery is very inflammable. The location you choose for charging should be ventilated well.

Any object and factors that may cause ignition such as spark, flame, burning cigarette, welding, friction and static electric discharge should be kept away from the batteries. Otherwise, the gas may catch fire and explode. Furthermore, in order to prevent sparks during maintenance, you should first disconnect the earthed cable and you should connect it last.

When you remove a battery from the vehicle, you should remove the post (-) first and when you replace a battery on the vehicle, you should connect the positive post (+) first.

During charge, you should not connect or disconnect the circuits directly. You should always switch off the charge and test equipment before you connect or remove the cable terminal caps to avoid a spark.

Flooded batteries should not be tilted more than 45 degrees in any direction. Batteries contain sulfuric acid which may cause serious burns. In case of contact with acid, you should wash the affected area with plenty of water and soap. If it contacts with eyes, you should wash your eyes with and get medical assistance.

  • Do not lean over the battery when charging, testing or jump starting the battery.
  • You should allow a frozen battery to heat up to 15 centigrade degree before you connect it to charge.
  • Do not replace the battery on the vehicle before you make sure the battery voltage is in proper direction.
  • Keep the batteries and electrolyte away from the children.

Things you should observe for proper use:

  • Battery surface should be kept clean and dry.
  • Make sure the battery connection points are tight and free of any oxidation.
  • Check the battery electrolyte level, if applicable; if it is insufficient, add “pure water” only. Never add acid.
  • If you will store the battery for a long time, make sure it is fully charged.
  • Read and observe the instructions definitely.
